The Free Gift
If we are human we love to receive gifts. When we receive a gift is raises different emotions attached to different levels. Sometimes the gift itself is so astounding that it simply overwhelms us, but other times it is not some much the gift that overwhelms us it is the giver of the gift. When someone offers us a gift it tells us that the person has been thinking about us or had enough interest in us to try and meet a need or a want that they have observed in our life.
The greatest gift ever offered is a gift that is offered to every single person that has ever lived. This gift meets the greatest need upon every heart that has ever taken a single beat. This gift is Jesus Christ who secured salvation by His grace through faith. This gift is offered to all regardless of social or economic status; everyone can come and receive the gift of salvation (Isa 55:1-3).
In Romans 5 Paul is comparing this gift to the transgression or disobedience of one man Adam which resulted in death, and the gift which results in life. The gift of Jesus Christ paying the penalty for our sins on the cross and offering that to mankind results in being justified or acceptable by God and having eternal life.
Prayer: My Father, I praise you that for the gift that you have given and offered. You cared enough about me that you provided a gift that you knew I could not afford or ever earn. I thank you for my gift of Jesus sacrifice which gave me salvation because of your amazing grace, in His name. Amen.
