Last night our power went off therefore this post was delayed.
Many More Things to Say
John 16:12 “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.”
As I reflect on John 16:12 my pride says that I can bear more now, but Jesus know best. Pondering upon this Jesus is all knowing and if He were to dispense a large portion of His knowledge upon my finite brain I would be paralyzed by the enormity and the truth of this knowledge. Even if he narrowed the knowledge down only to what is pertinent in my life I would cause me send me into an exhausted state. So I am thankful that the Lord Jesus through the Holy Spirit now only discloses to me the information that is necessary and needed in the moment.
Jesus here is instructing His disciples about a Helper coming to them. The Helper is the Holy Spirit and He is truthful, He will guide them in truth, He will not speak on His own initiative, and He will disclose what is to come, and He will glorify Jesus.
So today if I desire to hear “many more things” that Jesus has to say it is my responsibility to come to Him in the Word and Prayer and wait diligently for the Holy Spirit to speak to my heart and then I am responsible to obey. The Lord Jesus through the Holy Spirit will not disclose “many more things” just for the sake of knowledge, but for maturing of my faith and then action.
Prayer: Dear Father maker of the world and all that is in it, You posses all knowledge and at your discretion you are able to disclose knowledge and truth to me, through the Holy Spirit, for my needs today. I ask that my heart would be God ward in its orientation today. Thank you for not giving me more than I can handle. I have enough at the moment that I must attend to, but I will need your direction along the way. So by the Holy Spirit guide me today in all truth and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in my life, in His name. Amen.
