    Nothing to Hide

(Lk 12:2-3)2“But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. 3“Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.

Have you ever tried to hide something only to discover that someone knew about it all along?  In this context continued from chapter 11 the scribes and Pharisees were plotting against Jesus to catch Him in something that He might say.  All their plotting and scheming has become known, it may not be known widely at the time, but today it is recorded in God’s eternal Word for all to see.  As followers of Jesus Christ we need to live in such a way that there is nothing to hide.  Is there anything in your closet?  This is the beauty of continual repentance.   God already knows what is in your life, so what he desires is that you would come to him in humility and seek forgiveness, which he is ready to do.  He knows the difference between a heart that is broken and has nothing to hide and one that is proud and only gives part of the story.  There is no fooling God.   We can fool others and we can even fool ourselves.  These two verses give us great motivation to live our lives with nothing to hide.

Prayer: Father I thank You for the ability to know You through the Word of God.  You are the all-knowing God and there is no other.  I thank You for Your love for all humanity that you know everything that hidden and whispered.  Lord, give me the strength to daily live where I have nothing to hide.  I pray that those close to me and around me will also live in such away, In Jesus name. Amen.
