Moving On in our Love
With Valentine’s Day behind us, where we have loved all of those who return their love to us, let us move on in our Love. (Lk 6:32)32“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. Our love for others is often shallow; we will love them until they mistreat us, offend us, or hurt us. All of sudden someone who was a close intimate friend or spouse is now someone we would rather avoid. If this describes you in any of your relationships the thing you must do is examine your heart of un-forgiveness toward that person. Or as this passage states in (Lk 6:41)41“Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Now is the best time to consider all of those people in your life who you used to love and begin to forgive each one by name and then make a determination to love them as Jesus calls us to love them. (Lk 6:35-36)35“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. 36“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. I love the fact that the Most High God is kind to ungrateful and evil men, because I was one, until I came and repented of my sins and he graciously and kindly forgave me as he said, and continues to, day after day. Today it is my desire to imitate my Father in loving ungrateful and evil men.
Prayer: Father, make me like you in loving those who I would otherwise not love. I pray for those that I speak with today and those that I meet this week that I will demonstrate the kind of love that you have toward them. Thank you Jesus for giving me an example to follow in love by doing good and praying for those who hate me, curse me, and mistreat me. I pray this simply in the name of Jesus, Amen.
