1/27/10 Mark 3
Doing the Will of God
Mark 3:35 (NASB95)35“For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother.”
Today, a small group will meet to discuss the first week of the Experiencing God bible study. The study focuses on knowing and doing the will of God. May people often ask; “What is the will of God for my life?” The author Henry Blackaby suggests that this is not the right question to ask. The correct question is “What is God’s will?” Period. The thrust of this study is to see where God is working and then make the necessary adjustments in my life to join him so I may do His will. Here are the seven realities that are given in the Experiencing God bible study.
1. God is always at work around you.
2. God pursues a continuing love relationship with you that is real and personal.
3. God invites you to become involved with Him in His work.
4. God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.
5. God’s invitation for you to work with Him always leads to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action.
6. You must make major adjustments in your life to join God in what He is doing.
7. You come to know God by experience as you obey Him, and He accomplishes His work through you.
So today, as you read the scriptures and spend time in prayer be listening and watching to see where God is working around you. Then be obedient to what you hear and see Him doing. This is as simple as it gets for doing God’s will.
Father, Today may I do your will. Give me insight from the scriptures to be faithful and obedient to your will. It is my greatest desire to do your will and not my own. I know that no matter where you ask me to go or what you ask me to do, you are completely faithful and trustworthy. As I am reminded of your faithfulness and trustworthiness I give you praise and glorify your great name! In Jesus name. Amen.
